Music and Mental Health (Magazine Spread)
How live music creates a high note for your well-being
The Challenge
The editorial spread dives into the emotional power of live music, exploring how concerts do more than just entertain—they transform. Inspired by Rolling Stone’s bold energy and layered layouts, the design frames music as an unsung hero in the mental health conversation. With rising interest in wellness, I wanted to visually and editorially strike a balance between research-driven storytelling and rock-and-roll soul.
The Method
To bring this concept to life, I blended dynamic typographic treatments with expressive photography and music-inspired textures—think gritty stage lights, crowd silhouettes, and analog grain overlays.
The headline design pulls from vintage inspired tour posters
Pull quotes and data callouts amplify neuroscientific findings about dopamine and communal joy
Tools Used: Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
The Outcome
By marrying typography, research, and music subculture, I created a design that celebrates the joy of concerts as both a social ritual and a mental health boost. Whether you’re in the pit or swaying in the back, this piece reminds us that when words fail, music speaks and heals.
